Technology Tools: List each technology tool that adds value. Write an added value statement for each. Include Web sites that add value.

For this lesson, we will use the following technology tools:
* Added Value sites - KidHealth.org, YouTube - Human Body, How the Human Body Works - interactive siteThese sites are more interactive and student-friendly than the worksheets and textbook provided by the district, thus student-engagement will increase.
*Skype - The class will participate in a video conference with a local doctor who will talk to the students about healthy eating habits. This enables the class to have a virtual speaker, providing an "expert" opinion outside of school.
*Google Docs - Each student will share a link to a healthy recipe. This adds interactivity and knowledge sharing.
*Twitter - While each group is work, students will "tweet" the teacher if he/she has a question. Added engagement through social networking.
*Classroom Response Systems - Students will use "clickers" to answer review questions pertaining to the human body. Provide instant feedback and self-evaluation--increase motivation.
*Blog - Each student will use the class Blog to reflect on their learning experience throughout this unit. Individual expression and knowledge sharing through a public forum--increase awareness of writing for an audience and purpose.
*Wiki - each group will contribute to the class Wiki by adding information about the human body and health. Knowledge-sharing in a social forum--awareness of a real-world audience and influence on others.
  • Projector and student computers are needed for this unit.
